"Planet Shipping" Ltd. was established in September 1995, registered at Bourgas Regional Court with scope of business: ship agency, chartering and forwarding, customs representation and ship chandlers. In the beginning of its activity the company was chartering and acting as ship agent to 1500 GRT vessels, mainly general cargo. Later it moved to containers forwarding. Since 1995 it started servicing mainly containers forwarding.
                
Beginning of 1996, after signing a contract with the representative of "Philip Morris" PLC for Bulgaria, "Planet Shipping" Ltd. transferred its main activity to excise goods by providing their customs representation and forwarding through the country to the domestic market, duty free shops and the countries neighbouring Bulgaria.
 
In 1997, the company has signed a contract with the representation of Jim Beam Brands Co. and has licensed the first in the country bonded warehouses for excise goods, keeping and handling therein products of Philip Morris, RENAULT-BISQUIT, as well as products of Jim Beam Brands Co.
 
From 1997 till 2002, "Planet Shipping" Ltd. has serviced mainly the companies trading with cigarettes and alcohol performing the full customs and logistics servicing, including also securing the due state receivables by bank guarantees for transit, bonded and temporary storage of the goods, re-export and transit in and outside the territory of Bulgaria.
WHY BOURGAS?
 
Port of Bourgas plays a vital role to the existence and activities along the path of Trans- European Transport Corridor № 8. The extension of this route in east direction is also well-known as TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia). Due to its strategic location, Port of Bourgas could be considered as a main connection between Europe and Middle Asia. The Port of Bourgas Expansion Project successfully launched as the dredging and civil construction works commenced by June, 2001. The Project is an integral part of the Master Plan for Port of Bourgas development. The Master Plan envisages 4 new terminals to be built:
 

Terminal 1. For general and liquid cargoes;
Terminal 2. For bulk commodities and metals;
Terminal 3. Ro-ro and ferry terminal;
Terminal 4. Container terminal;
 
The realization of this Project of national importance has been entrusted to the world’s famous contractors-civil and dredging works went to Japanese Penta Ocean / Mitsubishi JV as the supply of cargo handling equipment was awarded to the Austrian VAB-Vatech JV.
